Welcome to Mt. Valley Vineyard & Winery
a family owned and operated winery located in Mt. Valley Township, Iowa

Our vineyard and winery are just a couple miles west of the historic Pilot Knob state park and two miles east of the Forest City Country Club.  We are settled on a 25 acre farm where we grow corn, beans, pumpkins and gourds.  We have cattle, Alpaca's, a miniature horse and a stocked pond.  Visiting Mt. Valley Vineyard is a true Iowa experience!

Mt. Valley Vineyard & Winery is a shared dream between Gary & Barb Ludwig and Scott & Jackie Heiser.  In the fall of 2001 the idea to start a small vineyard was born and the next spring we were planting our first acre of Marechal Foch grapes.  By the next fall, we knew the vineyard was just a start to bigger and better things.  Soon we were drafting plans for a winery, attending wine making classes and buying every book we could find on the subject.

It took us a few years to figure it all out... and we are still learning new things every day.  By the end of 2006, our winery was fully licensed and we were ready to open in the spring of 2007.  It took several years and A LOT of work, but in the end, we couldn't be more pleased.

For us, this has been a great way to keep our family connected, our children playing in the vineyard and continuing to learn new methods of wine making.
